Red Sea is one of the most respected names in the marine aquarium hobby worldwide. Founded in Israel in 1989, the brand has built its reputation on scientifically developed reef care products, precision test kits, marine salts and complete reef systems. Red Sea products are used by reef keepers ranging from beginners setting up their first marine tank to professional aquarists running large scale reef exhibits. Ocean Paws stocks selected Red Sea products and ships them across India.

Red Sea Marine Salts

Red Sea’s marine salt range is where most reef keepers first encounter the brand. The salt is formulated to replicate the specific ionic ratios of natural Red Sea water, which is where much of the world’s coral diversity originates. Red Sea produces three main salt formulations.

Red Sea Salt is the standard blend designed for fish-only marine tanks and mixed reef setups. It mixes to stable parameters and is widely used as a reliable everyday salt. Coral Pro Salt is Red Sea’s flagship reef salt, elevated in calcium, magnesium and alkalinity to support the high consumption rates of SPS coral dominated reef tanks. It mixes to slightly higher levels of these parameters than natural sea water, giving coral skeletons the building blocks they need for rapid growth. Blue Bucket, the entry product in the range, covers fish-only and beginner marine tanks at a more accessible price point.

Red Sea Reef Foundation Program

Coral skeletons are built primarily from calcium and carbonate. Maintaining stable levels of calcium, alkalinity and magnesium is the single most important factor in a healthy reef tank, and Red Sea’s Reef Foundation program addresses this systematically. Foundation A is a calcium and magnesium chloride supplement. Foundation B raises alkalinity using a sodium bicarbonate formulation. Foundation C addresses magnesium levels. The three products are dosed together in a ratio matched to coral consumption rates, making parameter management much more predictable than using uncoordinated single-element products.

Red Sea Coral Colors Program

Beyond the major parameters, coral pigmentation and health depend on a complex mix of trace elements that are consumed at rates too low for conventional supplements to track. Red Sea’s Coral Colors program covers four groups of trace elements, each in a separate bottle labeled A through D. Color A targets iodine and halogens, Color B covers potassium, Color C addresses iron and complementary elements, and Color D provides a blend of 31 trace elements. Together they maintain the specific trace element ratios found in natural reef water, which supports vivid coral coloration, particularly the reds, purples and blues that reef keepers prize most.

Red Sea Reef Energy

Corals are not purely filter feeders and do not survive on light and calcium alone. Reef Energy is Red Sea’s coral nutrition program, providing the organic compounds, amino acids, vitamins and fatty acids that corals need for growth and tissue maintenance. Reef Energy A is a carbohydrate and amino acid concentrate, and Reef Energy B delivers fatty acids and vitamins. Together they support both coral tissue growth and the zooxanthellae algae that live inside coral cells and drive photosynthetic energy production. This is particularly important for non-photosynthetic corals and for newly introduced frags that are still establishing their symbiotic algae populations.

Red Sea NO3:PO4-X

Excess nitrate and phosphate are the primary drivers of algae outbreaks in reef tanks and directly inhibit coral growth and colour. NO3:PO4-X is Red Sea’s carbon dosing solution, a bacterial carbon source that promotes the growth of nitrate and phosphate consuming bacteria inside the tank. It works by feeding a resident bacterial population that processes both nutrients simultaneously, reducing them to levels that allow corals to thrive. It is used widely in nutrient reduction programmes across freshwater and marine tanks.

Red Sea Test Kits

Accurate water testing is inseparable from successful reef keeping, and Red Sea produces test kits across the full range of reef parameters. Their kits cover alkalinity, calcium, magnesium, nitrate, nitrite, ammonia, phosphate, pH, salinity, iodine, potassium and several trace elements. The Red Sea Pro test kits use a titration method that gives significantly higher accuracy than the colour comparison kits widely sold in India, and are the preferred choice for SPS reef keepers who need precise readings rather than broad range estimates.

Red Sea Lighting

The ReefLED range is Red Sea’s purpose-built reef lighting system. The ReefLED 50 covers tanks up to about 50 cm wide, the ReefLED 90 suits tanks up to 90 cm, and the ReefLED 160S is designed for larger reef systems. All models produce a spectrum specifically tuned to coral photosynthesis and coloration, with a strong blue and violet component alongside white channels. They integrate with Red Sea’s ReefBeat app for sunrise and sunset automation, moon cycle simulation and storm effects.

Red Sea Reefer Systems

The Reefer series is Red Sea’s line of complete, reef-ready aquarium systems. These cabinets come with an integrated sump, plumbing and a carefully engineered water flow design that gives reef keepers a professional foundation to build on. Reefer tanks range from the compact Reefer 170 up to the large Reefer 750. The Reefer Nano and Peninsula variants offer alternative footprints for different room layouts. Each system is designed to work with Red Sea’s own equipment including the RSK protein skimmer series and the ReefLED lighting range.

Frequently Asked Questions about Red Sea

What is the difference between Red Sea Salt and Coral Pro Salt?

Red Sea Salt mixes to natural sea water parameters and suits fish-only and mixed reef tanks. Coral Pro Salt mixes to elevated calcium, alkalinity and magnesium levels designed for SPS dominated reef tanks with high coral consumption. Coral Pro costs more but is the preferred salt for serious reef keeping.

Does Ocean Paws stock Red Sea products?

Yes, we stock selected Red Sea products. If you are looking for a specific Red Sea salt, supplement or test kit, message us on WhatsApp and we will confirm what is available and arrange supply for you.

Are Red Sea test kits more accurate than regular aquarium test kits?

The Red Sea Pro series uses a titration method that is considerably more accurate than colour comparison test kits. For reef tanks where precise calcium and alkalinity control matters, the difference in accuracy is significant and worth the higher price.
